Imagine what it would be like to explore the landscape of your life from a faith perspective? What would it be like to experience God in every moment of your day? In every circumstance? And in every relationship? What if you discovered that your life isn’t so ordinary after all? That there is Someone wildly in love with you who is inviting you on a great adventure. The Christian life is a journey. However, our destination is not so much a place as it is a person. Our journey ultimately is an invitation to come close to that person, through knowing and experiencing a God who wants to be known and experienced. It is possible to engage in a way of life where we learn to hear God and respond to His movements in our lives.

The Journey Map is a unique 3-D interactive Map designed to help you explore your own faith story. While the Christian life has no Map-Quest that leads directly from point A to B, as we follow God there seem to be common threads and common stages. Understanding these stages can reveal some markers along the way. Often times, all we need to take the next step is to understand we are not alone on our purposeful path; God has been with us all the time. We find ourselves responding to his invitation to travel deeper into the “with God life” together.   Regardless of where you are now, where you have been, or where you hope to be, the Journey Map will aid in illuminating your unique journey.

The times and places that occur between the departure of a journey and the destination are important for their own sake. There are starts and stops, side trips, return visits, detours, and surprises, along with a community of people to meet along the way. There are also challenges, storms, and dangers we may encounter. God uses all of these to draw us to a more intimate relationship with Him. As we experience Him in exciting new ways, He is ultimately calling us to become the person He had in mind when He created us. “God is not interested in your “spiritual life.” God is just interested in your life. He intends to redeem it.” (John Ortberg) Every area of your life is important to God and each area is a potential place to experience Him in a life- changing way as you become both whole and holy. The Journey of spiritual growth then, is the process as Robert Munholland Jr says “of being conformed to the image of Christ for the sake of others.” As we are changed, we then “become agents of God’s healing and liberating grace” to others. (Robert Munholland Jr, Invitation to a Journey)

The good news is that we don’t have to grit our teeth, clench our fists or try harder to follow Him. There aren’t any formulas. Nor is it about striving or about just having knowledge. Growth doesn’t happen by a linear process that starts at one point and progresses to the next and the next. Growth happens when we simply open ourselves up to God, when we hunger for Him and when we intentionally put ourselves in environments that help us grow. The journey you are on is unique to you. Come on the adventure and open yourself up to a whole new way of living. This way of life is a life of learning:  learning to ask ourselves the tough questions, learning to identify our growth needs and learning to step into environments where we can better receive all that God has to give us.

Questions:
  • What is God up to in your life?
  • Do you want to grow?
  • Are you willing to be intentional about it?
  • The Journey Map will teach you a way of life…a way of learning.
